Daytime load + huge roof area = schools are the textbook-perfect solar customer. We've designed for international schools, private universities, and tuition chains across Klang Valley, Penang, and Iskandar Johor. Cut your TNB bill 50–70% AND turn the rooftop into a live science classroom.
Four structural advantages that make schools the ideal solar customer — and us the right partner.
Classes run 7am–4pm — exactly when the Malaysian sun is at peak output. No batteries required to capture the full benefit. Schools achieve 80–95% self-consumption rates, the highest of any commercial segment.
Every install includes a lobby kiosk display and LMS data feed showing real-time kWh generation, CO2 offset, and equivalent trees planted. Turn your rooftop into the most engaging science exhibit in the building.
No board approval needed for capital expenditure. Under our Power Purchase Agreement, Trexon owns and maintains the asset — the school pays per kWh at a rate ≤ TNB tariff. Fund it entirely from operating budget.
We prepare quarterly reporting templates formatted for school boards, parent-teacher associations, and university sustainability offices. Accreditation bodies and CSRD-aligned parents increasingly ask for this data.
Each institution type has a different load profile, procurement process, and stakeholder map. We engineer for all of them.
IB / IGCSE / AP campuses
GIIS, Marlborough, Nexus, Garden International, Sayfol, ELC
International schools carry high electricity bills from A/C-heavy classrooms, swimming pools, and auditoriums. German and British parent schools increasingly require CSRD-aligned sustainability data — rooftop solar delivers both savings and ESG reporting.

Malaysian private & religious schools
Sri KDU, Sunway International School, REAL Schools, Tahfiz chains
Private schools operate on tight fee structures. A 30–50% TNB bill reduction directly expands the budget available for teaching staff and facilities — a compelling case for any school board. Tahfiz campuses with boarding facilities benefit from battery storage for evening and Fajr operations.

Large multi-block campuses
Sunway University, Taylor's, INTI, Multimedia University, UCSI, Heriot-Watt
University campuses span multiple buildings with diverse load profiles — lecture theatres, labs, hostels, sports complexes. We design multi-array systems with a campus-wide energy management dashboard and can phase the rollout block-by-block to match capital availability.

Multi-site rollout
Kumon, Mind Valley, EduCity, regional tuition chains (Klang Valley, Penang, JB)
Tuition chains with 5–20 locations benefit from a standardised multi-site PPA or lease-to-own agreement — one contract, consistent pricing across all branches, centralised monitoring. We handle permitting at each site in parallel.

Hardware is the easy part. We include everything that makes a school install actually work.
100–1,500 kWp depending on campus size. Grade-A monocrystalline panels, IEC-certified inverters, 25-year panel performance warranty. Designed around school holiday windows for zero disruption to academic calendar.
Lobby kiosk display showing real-time generation, CO2 saved, and kWh milestones. LMS data API for integration into Google Classroom, Schoology, or any LMS. Students can pull live data for assignments.
LiFePO4 battery bank for evening events, exam halls, and boarding school night loads. Sized independently from the solar array — add only what you need. Qualifies for additional SEDA incentives.
CO2-saved leaderboard, kWh-generated timeline, and worksheet packs for Physics, Geography, and Environmental Studies. Updated quarterly with your school's actual generation data.
Match the commercial structure to your institution's budget cycle and risk appetite.
Board sinking fund / endowment
Full ownership from day one. Typical payback 5–7 years; 25-year system life delivers 3–4× the investment as net savings. Ideal for universities with endowment funds or international schools with capital reserves.
Trexon owns, school pays per kWh
No capital outlay. Trexon designs, installs, owns, and maintains the system. The school signs a 15–21 year agreement to purchase solar electricity at a rate ≤ the current TNB tariff — guaranteed savings from month one.
Fixed monthly opex, asset transfers in 10 years
Fixed monthly lease payments (typically 60–80% of equivalent TNB bill). After 10 years, the system transfers to the school at nil cost. Clean off-balance-sheet treatment for schools with IFRS-16 constraints.
Each install includes a live dashboard for STEM lessons + a CO2-saved leaderboard. Past students have used the data for science fairs, Cambridge IGCSE Physics coursework, and university applications. One student at a Klang Valley international school included the school's solar generation data in her UCL personal statement — it got a mention in her interview.
School projects have unique scheduling constraints. Here's our four-step process designed around the academic calendar.
We review 12 months of TNB bills, building plans, and roof condition reports. For multi-block campuses, we prioritise roof sections by area, shading, and structural readiness. No site visit required to produce a preliminary sizing.
Full engineering design (shadow analysis, load flow, string sizing) plus a financial model comparing Capex, PPA, and Lease-to-Own across a 25-year horizon. Presented in a format ready for the school board or finance committee.
All installation work is scheduled during term breaks — May, August, November, and December windows. Zero disruption to classes, exams, or co-curricular activities. TNB interconnection commissioned before the first day of the next term.
Annual preventive maintenance, inverter firmware updates, soiling checks, and panel performance testing included in all agreements. Monitoring alerts go to both Trexon's NOC and your designated facilities manager.
