SolaRIS Rebate: The RM4,000 Programme
Ended April 2025

The Solar for Rakyat Incentive Scheme (SolaRIS) by SEDA Malaysia provided eligible homeowners a RM4,000 cash rebate on their solar installation. It ended in April 2025. The current residential rebate is SuRIA Home: RM600 per kWac, up to RM3,000, paid to the TNB account holder.

SEDA-registered installer used for the work
SIRIM-certified panels and inverter on SEDA approved list
Property in Peninsular Malaysia (TNB coverage area)
No previous SolaRIS rebate claimed on this property

What was the SolaRIS rebate amount?
The SolaRIS (Solar for Rakyat Incentive Scheme) rebate provided a direct cash rebate of RM4,000 for eligible Malaysian homeowners. The programme ended in 2025 and is no longer available.
Who was eligible for the SolaRIS rebate?
Malaysian citizens who own a residential property with an individual TNB domestic meter, installing a system between 2–12kWp using a SEDA-registered installer with SIRIM-certified equipment. Property must be in Peninsular Malaysia.
How long did the SolaRIS application take?
Typically 4–8 weeks after TNB Solar ATAP meter activation. Once approved, the rebate was disbursed within 30 days. The programme ended in April 2025.
Can I stack SolaRIS with Solar ATAP?
Yes — SolaRIS was a one-time installation rebate while Solar ATAP is an ongoing grid-export credit programme. They complemented each other. Solar ATAP remains active today.
What is the current equivalent of SolaRIS in 2026?
SolaRIS ended in April 2025. The best current options for homeowners are: Solar ATAP (earn RM0.27–0.37/kWh credits by exporting to TNB grid), the SuRIA rebate (RM600/kWac, up to RM3,000), and bank loans (check current terms with the bank).
Does SolaRIS apply to apartments?
SolaRIS was primarily for landed residential properties with individual TNB meters. Strata units faced eligibility challenges due to shared master meters. The programme has ended as of 2025.
How was the RM4,000 rebate paid out?
The RM4,000 was paid by the government to the eligible homeowner after approval. The programme ended in April 2025. The current SuRIA Home rebate (RM600/kWac, up to RM3,000) is paid to the TNB account holder after TNB notifies them.
What documents did SolaRIS require?
MyKad copy, land title or S&P agreement, 3 months TNB bills, installation completion certificate (provided by Trexon), solar system specs sheet, TNB meter activation letter, single-line diagram, and roof photographs.
