Your TNB bill changes after solar. You'll see new line items. Don't panic—here is how to read it.
The 3 Key Lines
- Imported (kWh): Energy you pulled from the grid (at night or cloudy days). You pay for this.
- Exported (kWh): Energy you sent to the grid. You get a bill credit for this at the Energy Charge (RM 0.2703/kWh), forfeited if unused at the end of the billing period.
- Net Charge: (Import Charge) - (Export Credit) + Retail Charge (RM 10 a month under RP4; waived for homes using up to 800 kWh until 31 Dec 2026).
What is "KWTBB"?
Kumpulan Wang Tenaga Boleh Baharu (Renewable Energy Fund). You pay a levy of 1.6% of your electricity charges (homes using 300 kWh or less a month are exempt). With solar, you consume less from the grid, so this tax also drops!

Illustrative Example: Before and After
Assume a monthly TNB bill of RM300 before solar. With a 5.58 kWp system, the estimated saving is about RM184 a month, so the post-solar bill is about RM116 (illustrative estimate on the RP4 basis, AFA excluded). Actual figures depend on your usage, roof and how much you use during the day. Savings start after TNB commissions the system.
