Glove factories combine two critical advantages: massive flat rooftops (3,000–10,000 sq ft per building) and 24/7 high-baseload operations from dipping lines and vulcanization ovens. This means large system sizes (300–500+ kWp) are feasible and the bill reduction is maximized because daytime solar offsets peak production hours directly.

The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is in its reporting phase now, with full financial penalties from 2026. Glove exporters will need to report embedded carbon per 1,000 boxes. Solar directly eliminates Scope 2 emissions (the largest component), dramatically reducing your carbon intensity and avoiding tariff penalties on EU-bound shipments.

Under TNB tariff E2/E3, the MD charge is RM97.06/kW per month on the highest 30-minute measured demand. A glove plant drawing 600 kW peak pays RM58,236/month in MD charges alone. A 500 kWp solar system offsets 300–400 kW of measured demand, saving RM26,781–RM35,708/month from MD charges.

Under GITA, 60% of qualifying solar capex is deducted from statutory income. For a RM1.05M (500 kWp) system, that is RM630,000 deducted from taxable income — saving RM151,200 in corporate tax (24% rate). The system must be commissioned by December 31, 2026.
