How can a data center use solar without risking uptime?
Our systems are grid-tied and operate in parallel with TNB supply at all times. The solar + BESS system is designed as an additive power source — it reduces load on the grid connection and improves power quality, never replacing it as the primary supply. Sub-millisecond BESS switching ensures zero interruption to critical infrastructure during any grid event.
What is PUE and how does solar improve it?
Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) = Total facility power / IT equipment power. A perfect data center has a PUE of 1.0. By integrating solar and direct DC power distribution, we bypass traditional AC/DC conversion losses — reducing overhead power consumption. Our Cyberjaya reference project achieved a 0.12 PUE point reduction, from 1.47 to 1.35.
How does GITA apply to data center operators?
Under GITA, 60% of qualifying solar and BESS capex is deducted from statutory income. For a RM2M system, that is RM1.2M deducted from taxable income — saving RM288,000 in corporate tax (at 24% rate). Data centers qualify as commercial/industrial consumers under the GITA framework. Systems must be commissioned by December 31, 2026.
Can solar + BESS satisfy Amazon, Microsoft, and Google tenant carbon audits?
