April 2026 Market Summary
Solar panel prices in Malaysia remain on a gradual downward trend entering April 2026. Panel costs have fallen approximately 3% since March, driven by continued polysilicon oversupply from Chinese manufacturers and the industry-wide transition from P-type PERC to N-type TOPCon technology. For Malaysian homeowners, this means better value per watt than at any point in the past five years.
Inverter prices have held steady — Huawei, Solis, and Sungrow are maintaining their Q1 2026 price points, with no significant movements expected before mid-year. The combination of lower panel costs and stable inverter pricing makes April a strong buying window before Q3 demand picks up ahead of peak sunshine months.

Why Are Solar Panel Prices Falling in 2026?
Panel prices are down approximately 3% since January 2026. For a 10kWp system, that's roughly RM900–1,200 less than earlier this year. The trend is expected to continue through mid-2026.
Two structural forces are driving solar panel prices lower in Malaysia in 2026:
1. Polysilicon oversupply from China. Chinese manufacturers built out massive polysilicon production capacity between 2022 and 2024. That capacity is now fully online, producing far more raw material than the global market consumes. This excess pushes panel prices down the entire supply chain — from wafer to cell to module. Malaysian importers are benefiting directly from cheaper ex-factory pricing out of Chinese ports.
2. N-type TOPCon transition reducing P-type PERC prices. The industry is shifting from P-type PERC panels to higher-efficiency N-type TOPCon panels. As manufacturers retool production lines, older PERC inventory is being discounted to move stock. Meanwhile, N-type TOPCon panels — which offer 22–23% efficiency versus PERC's 20–21% — are becoming competitively priced. This technology upgrade is happening at flat or slightly lower cost per watt.
The result for Malaysian consumers: better panels at lower prices than 12 months ago, with no reduction in quality or warranty terms for Tier 1 brands.
