Maximum demand (MD) is the highest power your site draws in a billing period, and it is charged separately from the energy you use. Your bill shows the MD value and its charge, which is why this checklist asks for your tariff category, MD figures and, if you have them, interval or half-hourly load files. Twelve months of bills are preferred because they show seasonal and production-driven peaks that a single bill can hide.
