How do the 1:1 credits work?

For every 1 kWh of excess solar energy you export to SESCo grid, you receive 1 kWh credit on your bill. If you export 500 kWh and consume 800 kWh, you only pay for 300 kWh. Credits are valued at your consumption tariff rate (RM 0.285-0.571/kWh).

Do unused credits expire?

No! Unlike Solar ATAP in Peninsular Malaysia, NEM Sarawak credits roll over indefinitely as long as your SESCo account is active. Credits are non-transferable and cannot be converted to cash.

Who is eligible for Solar ATAP Sarawak?

All Sarawak property owners (residential or commercial) with an active SESCo account are eligible. You need to use a SESCo-approved installer like Trexon Energy. System sizes up to 72 kWp are permitted.

How long does the application take?

The SESCo application typically takes 2-3 weeks for approval. Once approved, installation can be completed within 2-3 weeks. The entire process from consultation to activation takes about 4-6 weeks.

What's the difference between NEM Sarawak and NEM Peninsular?

NEM Sarawak is managed by Sarawak Energy (SESCo) while Peninsular uses TNB. Key differences: SESCo credits roll over indefinitely (TNB credits expire), different tariff rates (SESCo: RM 0.285-0.571/kWh), and separate application processes.

What is the maximum system size allowed?

For residential properties, up to 72 kWp is allowed. For commercial properties, the limit depends on your maximum demand. Most homes need between 5-15 kWp to cover their consumption.
