What this scenario shows
An illustrative, not a Trexon project, scenario for a high-usage bungalow drawing about 4,350 kWh a month. The figures come from Trexon's savings engine, not from a customer's meter.
On the RP4 domestic tariff, above 1,500 kWh a month the energy charge rises from 27.03 sen to 37.03 sen per kWh. Such a household pays about RM2,570 a month before solar.
The estimate
- System: 17.98 kWp (29 x Jinko 620 W panels), catalogue price RM37,999 with a Solis inverter.
- Assumptions: 3.5 peak sun hours, 40% of generation used at home, export credited at the Energy Charge for the 10-year Solar ATAP term (unused credit is forfeited each month), AFA excluded.
- Result: the bill falls to about RM1,700, a saving of about RM870 a month (34%). A very large load means solar covers a modest share of the bill, and the saving is real money rather than a near-zero bill.
- Simple payback: about 3.6 years on those assumptions.
What changes the answer
Your own bills, when you use power (daytime use is worth more than export), roof orientation and shading, and the inverter you choose. Batteries are not modelled here. A real quotation starts from your TNB bills and a site survey.
Illustrative estimate only. Actual savings vary by site, usage and tariff.
