Installing a solar panel for home in Malaysia has never been more affordable. In 2026, a complete residential solar system starts from RM 14,999 for a 3kWp system — enough to cut a RM 200 monthly TNB bill by up to 80%. For homes with RM 400–600 bills, an 8kWp system (from RM 24,900) is the most popular choice.
Every solar panel for home Malaysia installation done by Trexon includes Solar ATAP registration, letting you export surplus power back to TNB. Credits are calculated at the Energy Charge rate under Solar ATAP 2026 (not 1:1 with full retail tariff). ATAP export credits are valid for a 10-year contract period. Most homeowners see full payback in 5–7 years, after which the system continues generating savings through self-consumption.

Different house types have different roof areas, orientations, and system requirements. Here is what to expect for each common home type in Malaysia.
The most common solar installation in Malaysia. Terrace homes typically have 20-35 sqm of usable roof space — enough for a 4-8 kW system (7-13 panels). Single-storey terraces suit 4 kW; double-storey terraces can often fit 6-8 kW.
Typical savings: RM 150–400/month
Semi-Ds have larger roof areas and typically suit a 6-10 kW system. The detached side wall often allows better south-facing panel orientation for maximum generation. East-west split across the roof ridge is also common.
Typical savings: RM 300–550/month
Bungalows and luxury homes offer the most flexibility with roof space exceeding 80 sqm in many cases. A 8-15 kW system is common, and some large properties can support up to 20 kW. Multiple roof planes allow east, south, and west-facing arrays for all-day generation.
Typical savings: RM 500–1,500+/month
Offset daytime electricity consumption entirely. Most homeowners see RM200–RM500 monthly savings from day one.
Under Solar ATAP (active from Jan 2026, replacing NEM 3.0), export excess solar energy to TNB for bill credits. Your meter tracks net consumption.
Trexon is a registered Solar ATAP 2026 installer. Government incentive programme with priority TNB approval queue.
Jinko Tier-1 panels with 25-year linear power output warranty and 12-year product warranty included.
With rising electricity tariffs and Solar ATAP credits, most Malaysian homeowners recover investment within 5-7 years.
Maybank, CIMB, RHB, Public Bank, and BSN offer 100% financing. Monthly savings typically exceed loan repayment from day one.
From first enquiry to grid connection, here is what to expect when installing solar panels on your home in Malaysia.
Our engineer visits your home to evaluate roof orientation, shading, structural load, and electrical panel capacity. Takes 45–60 minutes.
We design the optimal system size for your roof and TNB bill. Quotation includes full breakdown: panels, inverter, mounting, cabling, permits.
Trexon submits your Solar ATAP 2026 application to SEDA and TNB. Solar ATAP replaced NEM 3.0 from January 2026. We handle all paperwork. Approval takes 2–4 weeks.
Our certified CRE team installs panels, inverter, and isolators. System is fully tested and commissioned before we leave.
TNB replaces your standard meter with a bidirectional Solar ATAP meter. This typically takes 2–4 weeks after TNB approval.
Your solar system is live and exporting to the grid. Monitor real-time generation via the Huawei FusionSolar app on your phone.
A complete home solar system in Malaysia starts from RM16,500 for a 4 kW system (suitable for a RM200/month TNB bill) up to RM55,000 for a 15 kW system. The price includes Jinko 620W Tier-1 panels, Huawei inverter, professional mounting, full wiring, Solar ATAP application (Solar ATAP replaced NEM 3.0 from January 2026), and 25-year panel warranty. and bank financing options are available to reduce upfront cost to zero.
It depends on your monthly TNB bill. A RM200 bill needs roughly a 4 kW system (7 panels using Jinko 620W). A RM500 bill suits an 8 kW system (13 panels). A RM1,000 bill typically needs a 12 kW system (20 panels). Each 620W panel generates about 2.5-3 kWh/day in Malaysia's climate. Use our free solar calculator for a precise estimate.
Malaysian homeowners can access green bank loans from Maybank, CIMB, RHB, Public Bank, and BSN starting at ~3.5% p.a. with up to 10-year tenures and RM0 downpayment. 0% credit-card instalment plans (12-36 months) are also available. Trexon prepares SEDA-approved quotations accepted by all major banks.
Solar ATAP is Malaysia's current solar export programme managed by SEDA and TNB, active from 1 January 2026. It replaced NEM 3.0 (Net Energy Metering 3.0). When your solar panels generate more electricity than your home uses, the excess is exported to the TNB grid and credited to your bill at the retail energy tariff rate. Existing NEM 3.0 installations remain valid until their contract expires.
The physical installation of panels, inverter, and wiring takes 1-3 days depending on system size and roof type. However, the full process from signing to grid connection takes 6-10 weeks: Solar ATAP application approval takes 2-4 weeks, and TNB bidirectional meter installation takes a further 2-4 weeks after approval. Trexon handles all paperwork and follows up with TNB on your behalf.
No — when installed correctly by certified professionals, solar panels protect your roof rather than damage it. The panels shield the roof surface from UV, rain, and heat. Trexon uses watertight flashing and rubber-sealed anchors on tile roofs, and non-penetrating ballast systems on flat roofs. All penetrations are sealed with waterproof compound. Our 10-year workmanship warranty covers any installation-related roof issues.
